PumpMate is operated by an independent sole trader based in Victoria, Australia ("we", "us"). This policy explains what data PumpMate collects, why, and who it's shared with. PumpMate does not require an account or ask for your name, email, or any personal details to use the app.
Your location. If you allow it, your device's GPS coordinates are used to find nearby fuel stations. For normal browsing, your location is used on your device and sent to our server only as part of the request that fetches nearby prices — it is not stored or logged.
Your approximate location — only if you turn on alerts. If (and only if) you switch on price alerts, we store an approximate location alongside your notification subscription, so we can tell you about cheap fuel near you while the app is closed. This is deliberately rounded to about a 5 km area — it identifies a suburb-sized region, not your address. It is not linked to your name, email, or any account, because PumpMate has none. Turning alerts off deletes it immediately, and it is automatically deleted after 90 days of not opening the app.
Your notification subscription. Turning on alerts creates a push subscription — an anonymous address issued by your browser's push service (Apple, Google or Mozilla, depending on your device) that lets us send you a notification. We store it, along with which alert types you enabled and your chosen fuel type. Turning alerts off deletes it.
Your saved preferences. Favourited stations, chosen fuel type, tank size, and reward cards you select are stored only in your browser's local storage, on your device. We never receive or see this information.
Anonymous usage signals. To understand whether people keep using PumpMate, the app sends a random, non-identifying install ID and the date to our server when you open it. This cannot be traced back to you and contains no location, price, or personal data. It is deleted automatically after 45 days.
Anonymous error reports. If the app hits a software error, a short technical message (what broke, and where in the code) is sent to help us fix it. It never includes your location, your saved data, or anything that identifies you. Deleted automatically after 30 days.
PumpMate is built on top of a small number of external services. We don't sell or share your data with anyone for marketing purposes. The services PumpMate talks to, to do its job, are:
None of these services receive your name, email, or any way to identify you personally through PumpMate.
PumpMate may show non-intrusive, static advertising, and may include affiliate links (for example, to fuel cards, roadside assistance, or comparison services) where we may earn a referral fee if you sign up. We do not show interstitial or pop-up ads. Any advertising or affiliate partner in use will be disclosed here, and we'll update this policy before any new partner goes live. Ads and affiliate partners may use their own analytics or tracking, governed by their own privacy policies, which we'll link here once active.
PumpMate is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children.
If how PumpMate handles data changes materially, we'll update this page and the "last updated" date above.
